Death of Mrs. Daniel Green
Mrs. Daniel Green, an old and highly respected citizen, died at her home in the third ward last Sunday afternoon at three o'clock. Mrs. Green has suffered for years from heart trouble and for the past six months has spent her life in bed.
Death came peacefully at the end and she passed away as if going to sleep surrounded by her children.
Matilda M. Wahlstrom was born in Sidkoping, Sweden, April 10, 1862. She was the daughter of Andrew and Anna Wahlstrom. Her young days were spent in her native country and when twenty-three she came to America and made her home with her brothers, Carl and M. Wahlstrom, until her marriage to Daniel Green on February 28, 1893. To this union five children were born, four sons and one daughter, Daniel, Ray, William, Fred and Nina, all of whom survive her. The husband departed this life on January 2, 1916.
Mrs. Green was a member of the Lutheran church in her native country but since coming to Spencer has been a faithful attendant of the Christian church. Her kindly nature and true Christian womanhood endeared her to all with whom she came in contact. She was especially devoted to her home and to her children and it is upon them that the greatest sorrow falls.
Besides her children she leaves two brothers, Carl Wahlstrom of this city, M. Wahlstrom of near Royal and one sister, Christina Johnson of Sidkopng, Sweden, together with numerous friends to mourn her death.
Funeral services will be held from the Christian church this Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock and the remains will be laid to rest by the side of her husband in Riverside cemetery.
