LaVonne Marjorie Umbrell, the daughter of Arthur and Esther Danielson Westholm, was born May 26, 1922 in Albert City, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Albert City, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Albert City High School in 1940.
LaVonne married Vaun Maiden following her schooling. Following their marriage, he was killed in action during WWII on December 5, 1944. To this union, a daughter, Victoria was born.
LaVonne married Cloyd Umbrell on May 23, 1947 in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, Iowa for many years, where they were active member of the First Baptist Church. Following her husband's death on May 25, 1982, she continued to live in Spencer, until ten years ago, when she moved to her daughter's home in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
LaVonne passed away at her daughter's home in Alamogordo, New Mexico on Friday, September 15, 2006 at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Vaun Maiden, her 2nd husband, Cloyd Umbrell; one brother, Kenneth and two sisters: June and Norma.
She is survived by her two daughters: Jann Danielson of Grand Island, Nebraska and Victoria and her husband, Norman Guthrie of Alamogordo, New Mexico; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two stepchildren: Betty and her husband, Bob Mincer of Spencer and Sharon Arndt of Ruthven, IA and all of their children; one brother, Jim Westholm of Albert City, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
