Willie Anderson Dead.

THE NEWS last week reported the serious illness of Willie, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo.W. Anderson, of this city, but little thought at that time we should so soon be called upon to record his death. Although seriously sick when we wrote, his case was thought to be well in hand and that his ultimate recovery was certain; but Thursday night he took a turn for the worse and failed rapidly until death, which came about 4 o'clock Saturday morning.

Wm. D. Anderson was born in Riverton township, this county, Nov. 16, 1894 [sic]. When about seven years old his parents moved to Spencer, which city was his home until death. He attended the city schools up to two years ago, was a good student, and very popular among his school mates. Two years ago he became bookkeeper of the Fostoria Bank, where he developed unusual capabilities for one so young.

Somewhat over two years ago he became dangerously ill and for a long time his life was despaired of; but he finally rallied and got up again, but never wholly regained his former health and vigor.

Most of the time during the last ten years Willie was our near neighbor, and we watched him with interest in his boyish sports, his studies, and afterward in the more serious work to which he was called, and always found him a noble and manly boy—pleasant, kind and gentlemanly alike to young and old. Among his other finer qualities was a passion for music, in which he certainly would have excelled had opportunity been afforded for higher development of this talent.

The funeral, which was largely attended by both old and young, from both city and country, was held Monday at 2 p. in. in the home, Rev. E. E. Day conducting the services, after which, all that is moral of him who gave such promise of a bright and useful future was consigned to the dust from which it sprung.

Whereas, Death has entered the home of one of our members and taken therefrom her beloved son, Willie, therefore, the members of Annett Relief Corps No. 287, extend to Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Anderson and family, our tenderest sympathy in this their hour of sorrow. The Corps has no words to offer the stricken ones at such a time as this.
