Benjamin Fowler Lowerro was born at Flushing, Long Island, N.Y., August 7, 1838, and died March 5, 1926, aged eighty-seven years and seven months.

In his early manhood he moved with his parents to Monticello, New York. At the age of twenty-three he enlisted in the 56th New York Volunteer Infantry, Co. K., and served during the entire course of the war. He was in the army of the Potomac.

He was married to Miss Anna E. Raymond, April 12, 1871. To this union, two children, a son and a daughter were born. Mrs. Lowerro died January 26, 1879, and early the next year he moved with the two children to Clay county. He was both father and mother to them. After the daughter was married he made his home with her until the time of his death. In the year 1914 his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pensyl moved to Nashua, Minn., to make their home, Mr. Lowerre accompanying them.

His passing marks the close of a well lived life, a long journey ended, and his loved ones will miss a kind and affectionate father and the community a much respected citizen. Mr. Lowerre was converted in his early life and while of a retiring disposition maintained his faith until the end.

He leaves to mourn his loss a son, Raymond Lowerre of Spencer, Iowa, a daughter, Mrs. Elmer Pensyl of Nashua, Minn., and seven grand children.

Short services were held at Nashua before the remains were brought to Spencer, being conducted by the Rev. Rosin of Campbell. The services at Spencer were held in the Cobb Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon, February 9, and were conducted by the Dr. Herbert Clegg of Grace Methodist church. The Grand Army of the Republic gave their beautiful burial service. The W. R. C. and Sons of Veterans attended in a body, the pall bearers being sons of Veterans. Interment was made in the Riverside cemetery.
