A Mother Gone Home
Mrs. Joanna Allert was born August 29, 1828, in Stenum Parish, Skaraborg, Sweden. She was married to Peter Allert, 1851. They came to America June 1, 1881. The husband having died in 1881 [1904], she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Olin, where she died April 2, 1912. Funeral services were held at the Swedish Lutheran church in Spencer, Friday, April 5, at noon conducted by Rev. A. E. Gustafson, pastor. Interment was at Riverside beside the resting place of her husband. The family desire to express hearty thanks to their many friends for their kindness and sympathy during their affliction. The funeral of Mrs. Johanna Alett was held from the Swedish Lutheran church Friday afternoon with Rev. Gustafson officiating. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery beside the grave of her husband.Johanna Alett was born in Sweden August 29, 1828, and was at the time of her death 83 years, 8 months and 3 days old. She came to the United States in 1881 and for many years has been a resident of Clay county.
Of her immediate family there are left two daughters to mourn her absence, Mrs. Johnson of South Dakota, and Mrs. Oline of Lincoln township, besides a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Alett was a member of the Swedish Lutheran church. A good and kindly old lady loved and respected by all who knew her. (Spencer Reporter, Spencer, IA, April 10, 1912)
