Ernest Laverne Larson, the son of Otto J. and Manda Johnson Larson, was born August 28, 1918 in Wallingford, Iowa. He received his early education in the Wallingford school system. Ernest continued his education at the Kennedy School of Hairstyling in Des Moines and the Sioux City Barber College. He also attended the American Studio of Hair Fashion in Chicago. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served with the United States Coast Guard from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946.

Ernie married Evelyn Kundtson on November 28, 1949 in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage, they made their home in Spencer, where he was co-owner of the Larson School of Hairstyling in Spencer and the La James College of Hairstyling in Ft. Dodge. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. He was also an active member of the Golden K Kiwanis and the American Legion.

Ernest passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Merlyn Larson.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Larson of Spencer; one daughter, Kathleen Ann Andrews of Estherville, IA; one grandson, Eric Erickson and his wife, Melissa of Estherville, IA; two granddaughters: Lisa Erickson of Cedar Falls, IA and Carrie Erickson of Brookings SD; two great-grandsons: Chase and Brenden; other relatives and many friends.

Interment in Riverside cemetery
