Tony Ketelsen, 36, Everly, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997, at University Hospital, Iowa City.

Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Everly, with the Rev. Anthony Pick officiating.

Casket bearers will be Laef Lundbeck, Bob Doran, Terry Boltjes, Dan Holtz, Dale Koopman, Don Schmalen, Lance Lundbeck and Dale Blair.

Honorary casket bearers will be Wes Thiessen, Louie Dehrkoop, Rick Peterson, Craig Tesch, Bob Jager, Bruce Buns, Chuck Pemble, Tim Christensen, and Chad VerMeer.

Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly, with Warner Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Leukemia Society.

Steven Anthony Ketelsen, the son of Ted and Val Clausen Ketelsen, was born April 18, 1961, in Spencer. His early childhood years were spent in Wheatland, Wyo., where he received his early education at Libby School. His family later moved to Everly where he continued his education, graduating from Everly High School in 1979. He attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, graduating in 1981.

He married Bridget Bruns on Oct. 10, 1981, in Royal. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Everly where he worked at Harm's Implement in Everly, Spencer Foods, BSI in Hartley and Eaton Corporation until he was diagnosed with leukemia in 1989. He farmed on the family farm until the time of his death.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Everly. He was active as a member of the NRA, Meadowbrook Golf and County Club in Hartley, the Dakota Territory Gun Collector's Association and ATA TaeKwonDo where he was a second degree black belt and also an instructor.

He is survived by his wife; three children, Kimberly, A.J., and Coltan, all of the home; his parents; two sisters, Lisa VerMeer and her husband, Duane of Sheldon and Lori VerMeer and her husband, Lyle of Douglas, Wyo., his grandmother, Lucille Clausen of Spencer; and his grandfather, "Hap" Ketelsen of Douglas.
