Ellen M. Negus was born in Sodus, N. Y., August 17, 1844, was married to Wm. Dodd, Dec. 1, 1860. To this union two boys were born, both of whom are dead. She was married to E. Hallock, Oct. 11, 1882, to this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Adah Holbrook, whose home is in Chicago. She was with her mother the last few days. Mrs. Hallock came to Spencer in 1893, where she has since lived, was a true Christian, had the confidence and sympathy of all who knew her. She died Jan. 12, in the Wayne hospital of heart trouble with which she had been afflicted since September. She was a communicant in the Episcopal church, also a charter member of the Eastern Star lodge. The funeral was held Wednesday from the Episcopal church conducted by Dr. Morrow, burial made in Riverside cemetery. She is survived by four brothers and one sister, one brother, Frank Negus in Spencer, two brothers in Nebraska and one, L. M. Negus of Des Moines, who with his wife were present at the funeral. They are the parents of Mrs. George Polk.
