Services for Ernest L. Nelson

Services for Ernest L. Nelson, 89, of Spencer will be held in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Spencer Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Elder Byron Churchill officiating.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. He died Saturday in Spencer Municipal Hospital. Bearers will be Wayne Hanson, Laurence Mills, Richards Hicks, Howard Kabrick, Beryl Hicks and David W. Nelson.

He was born July 2, 1884 in Cherokee, a son of Lovell D. and Hattie Gibson Nelson. In 1904 he married Ethel Forney in Michigan.

Survivors include his wife Ethel of Spencer; one daughter, Mrs. George (Lucille) Hicks of Spencer; on son, Wayne David Nelson of Downey, Cal. four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, seven brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Nelson had farmed most of his lifetime, retiring about 25 years ago. He farmed in the Gaza and Paullina areas, then lived in Sutherland. He had resided in Spencer the last three years.

Lightle-Hayes Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
