Jacob Rosenkrans was born in Sussex county, N.J., Oct. 16, 1831, and died at his home in Spencer Saturday, Feb. 2?, at the age of 83 years. He was married at Ashton, Ill., in 1860 to Martha Stevens, who preceded him in death 14 years ago. They came to Clay Co. 19 years ago and located on a farm four miles south of Spencer where they lived until eleven years ago when the family came to Spencer. Only two children were born in the family, Mary and Frank, who survive the father. Mr. Rosenkrans was an upright, consistent Christian man, was ready for death realizing he had been blessed with a long and successful life. The memorial was held this afternoon from the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. O.M. Bond. The profusion of floral offerings testified to the high esteem in which he was held. Mrs. H.V. Geissinger, a relative of Storm Lake, also two brothers-in-law, N.D. and Isaac Stevesn of Pawpaw, Ill., were present. Mary and Frank wish to express their gratitude to the friends for the beautiful flowers and many kindnesses shown during their bereavement.
