Joyce Elizabeth Mills, the daughter of Nels Richard and Julia Evelyn Anderson Holmberg, was born April 10, 1934 in Dickens, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Gillett Grove and Royal areas where she received her early education.

Joyce married Oliver Ball on June 28, 1952, in Jackson, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived in the Royal and Spencer area. Oliver passed away on December 13, 1977. Joyce married Richard Mills in Spencer, Iowa. She then worked outside the home at a laundry-mate, in food service and at the Sioux Rapids Nursing Home as a cook. She was a member of the Eagles in Spencer, Iowa.

Joyce passed away at the McKennan Hospital on January 27, 2007, at the age of 72. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oliver; her step-father, Lyle Vreeland; two sisters: Evelyn and Shirley; one grandchild, Brenda Fahrenkrog.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Berger of Aberdeen, WA; her son, William Ball of Sioux Rapids, IA; four grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; four sisters: Alice Patrick of Peterson, IA, Jean and her husband, Edward Ball of Greenville, Iowa, Claire White of Monroe, WI and Jolene Green of Des Moines, IA; other relatives and friends.
