Nathaniel Baker was born in Lisbon Center, New York, July 13, 1860, and died October 28, 1912, at the age of 52 years. He was united in marriage to Rosa E. O'Grady, of Watertown, new York, April 8, 1880 and in the year of 1881 came to Iowa and homesteaded six miles northeast of Dickens where they lived until 1892, when they moved to Dickens, Iowa, and in the year of 1907(?) commenced the general merchandise business which he was in at the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn his departure a wife, one daughter, Mrs. T.J. Hurt, of Dickens, one granddaughter, two brothers, Samuel and Mallory Baker, of Lisbon Center, New York, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the Congregational church, conducted by Rev. C.E. Wensley(?) and the body laid to rest in the Dickens cemetery.
