A funeral service for Thelma Lachner, 84, of Spencer, is scheduled for 10 a.m. today, May 1, 2002, at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. The Rev. Gary Nims will lead the service. Mrs. Lachner died at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, April 26.
Casket bearers will be Carlton Quee, Wayne Christensen, Gary Graves, Julie Lachner, David Schmidt and Daniel Schmidt. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
Thelma Goldie Lachner, the daughter of William Jack and Gertie Otelia (Grans) Tolley, was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Peterson. Her childhood years were spent on a farm near Peterson. In 1924, she moved to Spencer with her mother and sister. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1935.
On Feb. 15, 1941, she married Arthur Lachner in Spencer. She was a homemaker and worked for an eye doctor for six years. Mrs. Lachner was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a member of the Farm Bureau.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Mrs. Lachner is survived by five children: Ron Lachner of Santa Monica, Calif., Kent Lachner of Fox Island, Wash., Karen Lachner of Minneapolis, Minn., Marilyn Schmidt and her husband, Peter of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Bill Lachner of Minneapolis, Minn., three grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Quee and her husband, Carlton, of Spencer; other relatives and friends.Source: Daily Reporter, Spencer, Clay County, Iowa; May 1 , 2002.
