Anne Hansen Nitzsche, 1919-2006

Anne Kirstine Nitzsche, the daughter of Jens and Metha Christensen Hansen, was born June 7, 1919, in Royal, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Royal where she received her early education and graduated from the Spencer High School. Following her education, Anne worked at Frank's Cafe.

On June 14, 1940, Anne married Floyd Henry Nitzsche at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. Following their marriage, they farmed near Langdon until moving to Spencer in 1975. Anne continued to manage her farms until recently. Floyd and Anne spent many of their winters in Brownsville, TX. They also enjoyed world travels to South America, Europe, the Middle East and trips to Denmark to visit relatives. Anne was affiliated with the Langdon Methodist Church where she served as the first woman on the Church Board and also served as President of the Langdon Women's Society. She was instrumental in designing boundaries in the County School Reorganization Project, was a 4-H Leader for 13 years for Meadow Busy Bees and was a member of the Garden Club and later became an Honorary Member.

Mrs. Nitzsche passed away on January 12, 2006, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Floyd, in 1982.

She is survived by her three daughters: Jean Moeller and her husband, Clifton of Cumming, GA; Jane Hussey and her husband, Dennis of Spencer, IA; and Donna Walker and John Malissos of Ellensburg, WA; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Verne Hansen, of Wahpeton, IA; other relatives and friends.
