Howard Jay Beck, Born October 5, 1914, at Royal, Iowa, passed away June 7, 1999, at the age of 84. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois Hill Beck of Bloomington, Minnesota; sons, Allen & wife Mavis of Bloomington; Warren & wife Donna of Wayzata; daughter, Marilyn & husband Lynn Brooks of Frederick, MD; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons; brother, Homer of Tampa, FL; sisters, Mary Ashton of Baytown, TX and Doris Hausmann of Royal, IA; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Peter & Emma Johnson Beck, and brother, Orval. Howard farmed in Iowa until 1960, where he was active in 4-H work, church leadership, and other community activities. They moved to Bloomington, where he was employed by Yellow Freight System until retiring in 1976. He and his wife spent many years traveling, including 19 winters in Mission, TX, where he was in charge of the area pool league. He learned to play golf after retirement and spent many hours with his friends. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral service 11 am Friday at Emerson Congregational Church (7601 Girard Ave S., Richfield). Interment Dawn Valley Memorial Park, Bloomington. Memorials preferred to Emerson Congregational Church.
