Services Held Saturday for Katie Wieben

Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Wieben were conducted last Saturday afternoon December 2, at 2 o'clock p.m. in the Warner Chapel in Spencer. Officiating at the service was the Rev. P. J. Dada of the Methodist Church in Everly.

Music for the service was provided by the organist, Mrs. David Cuttell who also accompanied Mrs. Gale Birdsall and Mrs. Ray Ihry as they sang, "Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me".

Serving as pallbearers were: Mr. Francis Moeller, Mr. Henry Hoeppner, Mr. Frank Sharnberg, Mr. Henry Frydenborg, Mr. Clarence Ott and Dr. W. M. Moermond. Interment was made in Lone Tree Cemetery near Everly.

Mrs. Wieben passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 29, approximately 3 o'clock, at the Burintun Nursing Home in Everly where she has been an occupant for the past three years.

OBITUARY

Katie Steffens Wieben, was born July 23, 1877 in Germany. Her parents were Antone and Anna Steffens. The early part of her life was spent in Germany, later coming to the United States where she had spent the past sixty-three years of her remaining life.

On January 14, 1899 she was united in marriage with John Wieben. To this union five sons were born. Mr. Wieben preceded his wife in death the year of 1940. One son Henry, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Louis Wieben and a granddaughter Dorothy Wieben, also preceded her in death.

Survivors of the deceased, are her sons, Herman of Waterloo; John and Albert of Everly; Fred of Hartley and Louis of Royal.

She is also survived by four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one niece, Mrs. Ralph Henkel of Spencer and one brother Hinrich Steffens in Germany.
