Funeral Services Wednesday for Walter Koehnk
Funeral services for Walter Koehnk of Vancouver, Washington were conducted Thursday afternoon March 15, 1962 from the Warner Funeral Chapel at Spencer. Rev. D. Cronrath of Hope Lutheran Church of Everly officiated at the service.
Mrs. Wm. Slawson served as organist and accompanied the soloist Mrs. Orvill Koechert as she sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset".
Serving as pallbearers, were: Mr. Wilbert Thiessen, Mr. Clarence Scharnberg, Mr. Terrance Linnihan, Mr. Verlyn Dillingham, Mr. Elmer Nath and Mr. Orville Koechert. Interment was made in North Lawn Cemetery near Spencer.
OBITUARY
Walter Koehnk, son of Otto Koehnk and Anna Bielfeldt Koehnk was born February 26, 1915 at Moneta, Iowa.
He received his education in the Everly Schools. He was united in marriage, to Alto Peyton of Vancouver, Washington. The couple made their home in Vancouver, where he operated a service station for the past sixteen years.
On February 26, he became seriously ill with a virus infestion and passed away March 8 at the age of forty-seven years.
He is survived by his wife, Alto, his mother, Mrs. Anna Koehnk of Everly; two brothers, Otto of Spencer and Raymond of Everly; four sisters, Mrs. Hilda Petersen, Mrs. Wilma Froehlich and Betty Runkle, all of Everly and Jeannine Klett of Seymour, Iowa, also a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Otto Koehnk Sr., and a brother Melvin.
