Mrs. Mary Adeline Clevenger, a former resident of Adair County, died Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edna Murphy, in Aberdeen, Wash. She was 83 years old. Death was due to a paralytic stroke.
Mrs. Clevenger was a resident of Adair County for 25 years and made her home with her son, Lewis Carson Clevenger, until May 1929 when he took her to Aberdeen to live with her daughter.
She is survived by six children. They are: Ben Clevenger, of Novinger; Mrs. John Byron (Jenny May) Johnson of Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Ida Oswalt, Weldon, Iowa; Mrs. Edna Murphy, Aberdeen, Wash., Mrs. Dora Pinegar.of Lovilla, Iowa; and Lewis Clevenger, Kirksville, Mo., who is on the faculty of the Teachers College here.
The body was brought here for burial, and the funeral services were held at the home of her son, Prof. Clevenger, Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. The services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Smith, pastor of the Baptist Church and interment was made in the Novinger Cemetery located in Novinger, Missouri.

Kirksville Daily Express, Adair Co., Missouri.In 1852 when Mary Adeline Saddoris (Clevenger) was a child she came from Illinois to Iowa with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Saddoris. She lived through the pioneer days in that new country and remembers vividly many of the events which have made history in the Middle West. She moved to Missouri about 25 years ago, and has lived in this section of the state since that time.
A year ago she wnt to Aberdeen, Washington to live with her daughter, Mrs. Edna Murphy, at whose home she died April 26, 1930.
Mrs. Clevenger was a woman of sterling qualities and was loved by her countless number of friends.
