Laura Estella Cobun, daughter of Edmund Benbow and Martha Rushing Benbow was born November 5, 1878, in Clarke County, Iowa. She passed away January 27 1972 at the Osceola Leisure Manor.
She received her education in the Clarke County Schools. On September 26, 1900 she was united in marriage to William Arthur Cobun. To this union were born four children, two sons and two daughters.
She was affiliated wit the Fremont Methodist Church, later with the Trinity Methodist Protestant Church of Osceola, and she became a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Arthur, one son Glenn, one grandson William Cobun, six sisters and two brothers. Surviving relatives include one son, Lyle and wife, Orpha of Osceola, two daughters, Helen and Husband Raymond McGee of Osceola and Maxine Howell of Little Rock, Arkansas, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services were held at the Webster-Kale Funeral home on Saturday, January 29 with Rev. George V. Neal officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Those from out of town attending the services for Laura Cobun on Saturday, January 29 were Mrs Maxine Howell and daughter, Vickie, Mr and Mrs Dave Larson, Connie and Kent of Little Rock, Arkansas, James Handley of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mr and Mrs Lafe Benbow of Afton, Harney and Theresa Larson of Ames and Mr and Mrs Osmer Cellman of Sigourney.
