The Osceola Sentinel

Angelis B Bartlett (colored) was born 1842 in Knox county, Kentucky, and spent the years of his early life there and in Montgomery county in the same state.

In 1863 he went to the army and remained until the close of the war. He then went to Kansas where he was married in 1868. In 1873 he removed to Missouri where he remained twenty years. In 1893 he made his home in Albia, Ia., where he was well and favorably known as an honest, Christian man. During this period, he buried his wife who lost her life in a fire.

December 22, 1903, he married Mrs. Amanda Williams of Osceola, and has since resided here, where he has made friends of all who knew him. He was a member of the church for over thirty years and lived a good life. He has been confined to his bed for over two years and has borne his long sickness and much suffering patiently awaiting his Master’s call.

The sympathy of all goes to the bereaved wife who has cared for him so faithfully and well until the end, which came Friday, September 23, 1910 at 3 a.m.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock conducted by Rev. L.B. Carpenter of the M.E. church. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery.
