Death of Mrs. Jane Harper

Delilah Mason was born in Randolph county, Indiana, October 22, 1818, and died in Arkansas City, Kansas, December 29, 1896, aged seventy-eight years, two months and five days. She was married to James Harper in 1836 in Kosciusko county, Indiana. To them were born seven children, four of whom survive and were present at the funeral: O. V. L, of Lacelle, W. E., of Osceola, and J. M., of Dodge City, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. James Harper moved to Clarke county in 1857 and settled in Knox township, where they lived until 1868, when they came to Osceola. They made this their home until Mr. Harper's death, May 18, 1893. Since that time she had made her home with her children and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rarick, in Arkansas City, Kansas. Sunday morning, at eight o'clock. She, with her husband, united with the M. E. church in 1838, and became members of that church in Osceola on moving here. The deceased remained a consistent member and an earnest worker for the cause of Christ until the time of her death. She remarked many times that all was well with her and when her time was come she was ready to go.

The remains were brought to Osceola Tuesday and the funeral services were held at the home of her son, W. E. Harper, Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock by Rev. Howe. A large company of sympathizing friends were present.
