March 21, 1929
The Osceola Sentinel, Osceola, Iowa

Mrs. Emaline Hart
Emaline Miler was born in Sciota county, Ohio, September 15, 1843, where she continued to live until she was twelve years of age. She then moved, with her parents, to Iowa, arriving in Clarke county, August 1, 1855, locating in Liberty township, where the father purchased from the government a 120 acre tract of land which is still a family possession.

On September 20, 1863 she was united in marriage to Samuel Hart who, because of disability had been discharged from army service.
On July 1, 1861, at age 25, Samuel had enlisted in the 6th Iowa Infantry, Company F.

To them seven children were born, all of whom are living and were with the mother much during the closing days of her earthly pilgrimage. They are Eugene, Edward, Mrs. Alvice Ramsey, Warren, Jacob, Jennie, at home, and Mrs. Keith Proudfoot, all of whom live in Clarke County.

The husband passed away March 6, 1879 leaving her with the responsibility of their seven children. With much tact and mother intuition she kept the family together until one by one they created homes of their own, but on their home visits, they always found mother at the gate to meet them.

Early in life she became a Christian and lived constantly in that faith. For more than seventy years she was a member of the Christian church. She measured life by the golden rule and belonged to the Golden Rule Club for many years.

She passed to her reward Monday evening March 18, 1929 having reached the age of 85 years, 6 months and 3 days leaving to mourn her seven children, seven grand children, ten great-grand children, 2 bothers, Frank Miler of Talmage, Iowa and Oliver of Creston and 2 sisters, Mrs. Armilda Thompson of Osceola and Mrs. J.M. Goin of Port Angeles, Cal.

Funeral services were held from the Christian church March 13, at 2:30 O’clock and interment was made in the Greenwood cemetery.
