Ray E. Carson,

The son of T. D. and M. D. Carson was born September 21, 1886 and departed this life February 26, 1903, aged seventeen years, five months and two days. He will meet his little sister Bula in His home not made with bands. After calling his father and mother and near relatives to his beside and telling them to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and they would be saved and would meet him in Heaven he said, "Don't weep over me, Jesus will take care of me," and bid all goodbye and closed his eyes with a smile on his face. When he was nearing the river he sang that sweet song, "In the Rifted Rock I Am Resting." The funeral was preached by Rev. Zike, after which the remains taken to Ottumwa for interment.
