Lewis Carson
Dies At 97

Funeral services for Lewis E. (Lute) Carson, 97, were held Friday, December 8, from the Webster Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Lute Carson died at the Clarke County Public Hospital on Wednesday, December 6, 1978. The Rev. Roy Ives officiated at the 10 a.m. funeral with interment in Ottawa Cemetery.

Lewis E. Carson was born December 9, 1880, in Clarke County, Iowa, son of Jobe Carson and Martha Clark Carson. He attended schools in Clarke County and in March, 1904, was married to Myrtle Cleo Pennick. One child was born to this union. He was married to Lela Adamson on June 3, 1939, in Indianola, Iowa.

He was an employee of Clarke County and retired in 1953. A resident of Woodburn, he moved to Osceola in 1930 and made that his home until his death.

He was affiliated with the United Brethren Church in Ottawa and later transferred to the First Christian Church in Osceola.

Survivors include his wife, Lela of Osceola, daughter, Daleth Johnson and husband, Hallie of Osceola; and one brother, Oscar Carson of Osceola.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle in 1931 and a brother, Minor Carson.
