Harry E. Carson

Harry E. Carson, son of Asa and Sarah Carson, was born near Woodburn, Iowa July 29, 1867, and passed away Friday, Feb. 11, 1944 at the age of 76 years, 6 months, 12 days. He was one of a family of 12 children, seven of whom have preceded him in death.

He was married to Samantha Lewallen in 1890. To them were born: Lloyd of Central City, Iowa and Velma Baker of Newton, Iowa. The wife and mother passed away Jan. 1, 1894. On Dec. 23, 1897 he was married to Mamie Heston of Woodburn. Five children were born to them: Glenn, who died at the age of 2 years, Wayne of Murray, Iowa, Mrs. Ferne Van Velkinburgh of Chillicothe, Mo., Dwight, who died July 26, 1943. Ward of near Humeston. Living are, one brother Tom Carson of Gillette, Wyo., three sisters: Elsie Heston of Woodburn, Martha Coffman of near Creston and Dora Kent of Chariton, his wife, five children, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Mr. Carson had lived in and around Humeston for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Christian church in Woodburn.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. R. Neel, Sunday afternoon at the Christian church in Humeston. Burial in the Ottawa cemetery near Woodburn.
