April 12, 2007 , page 3Richard Raymond "Dick" Schaff, son of Lyle Raymond and Bertha Faye Mennealy Schaff, was born Feb. 10, 1947, in Osceola. He died April 2, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was 60.
He has lived most of his life in Osceola. He married Shelley Diane Aiken on Sept. 14, 1968, in Camdenton, Mo. He has owned Eastside Auto in Osceola for many years.
Mr. Schaff enjoyed helping people. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren. He enjoyed drag racing, building motors for muscle cars and he really loved his wife's cooking.
Mr. Schaff was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bud and sisters, Lois Flowers and Joy Hodges. He is survived by his wife Shelley; son Cory James Schaff of Osceola; son, Scott Smith and wife Jessica of Osceola; daughter. Headier Dawn Brown, who is currently stationed in Iraq, and husband Robert of Des Moines; grandchildren, Carter and Riley, sisters, llene Lindsey of Story City, Betty Simpson and husband Max of Florida, and Eva Doran and husband Dennis of Osceola; brother, Glenn Schaff of Osceola; as well as other relatives and many friends.
Services for Mr. Schaff were April 6, 2007, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Jess Finch officiating. Casket bearers were Larry Holmes, Bob Brown, Denny Doran, Monty Rayburn, Nelson Fry and Steve Spencer. Honorary casket bearers were Lanny Collins, Bobbie Reed and Bob Sheets Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be decided at a later date.
