MEMORIAL
SERVICES

Memorial services were conducted April the 2nd at eleven o'clock in memory of Elwood and Belle Nicholson, who passed away only eighteen days apart, and whose obituaries appeared in this paper previous to this writing. They were the son and daughter of Harry and Molly Nicholson. This service was conducted at Fremont church to a large congregation of friends and neighbors. Mrs. O. B. Folger, who is always ready to help in every time of need, beautifully draped two of the choir chairs in white with wreaths of flowers, in loving memory of those two young people that were members of the choir. The music for this occasion was rendered by Miss Bessie Switzer at the organ, Mrs. Alta Hunt, Miss Malva Fouche, and Ross and William Saddoris, who did the singing. The music was good and highly appreciated. The following poem was composed by Mrs. Ada Fouche for this special service and was read by Mrs. Alta Hunt.

Sacred to the Memory of
Belle and Elwood Nicholson

Early in life's blissful morning,
Jesus called our darling fair,
And she answered sweetly singing,
"When the roll's called I'll be there."

Earth has lost two precious jewel's
Heaven has gained two priceless gems,

Robed in spotless white immortal
With a crown and diadem.

When the roll is called in Heaven,
May we meet Elwood and Belle,
Where goodbye's are never spoken,
Where there'll be no sad farewell.

Some sweet day where flowers shall bloom,
Never more to fade and die,
We shall meet beyond the tomb,
And till then, dear ones good-bye.
--Mrs. Ada Fouche.

The sermon was preached by the writer from John 14th chapter and the first three verses. A large congregation of friend and neighbors were present. This service will long be remembered in this community and these two noble young people that have been taken so early in life by the hand of death will still live in the hearts and minds of their many many friends.
