February 17, 1981 page 6Leo Lenard DeVore of Osceola died at the Veteran’s Hospital in Des Moines Thursday, February 12. Funeral service was held from the Webster-Kale Funeral Home Saturday, February 14. Pastor Edward Aubuchon officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service with interment in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Leo Leonard Devore, 66, was born in Van Wert, Iowa April 9, 1914, the son of William S. and Safrona Parmer DeVore. He attended the Van Wert schools and was married December 28, 1943 to Geraldine Brammer in Bethany, Missouri. He owned and operated a shoe repair shop and was a member of the Ottumwa chapter of Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine of Osceola, daughter Sandra Mateer and husband Craig of Osceola and son, Junior Devore of Ames, grandchildren, Brian DeVore and Chandra, Theron, Aaron and Justin Mateer; brother Clair, Spencer, John and Ernie, all of Osceola and William DeVore of Van Wert.
He was preceded in death by parents, three brothers, a sister and three grandchildren.
