Harry Denly

Harry Denly, son of Edward and Maria Ayers Denly was born in Clarke County, Iowa, Aug. 21, 1882, and departed this life at the Clarke County Public Hospital in Osceola, Iowa, December 23, 1958, at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 2 days.

He received his formal education in the Clarke county public schools. On Jan. 1, 1903, he was united in marriage to Mae Field in Clarke county, Iowa. To this union 11 children were born.

He spent his entire life in Clarke and Madison counties. His life vocation was farming. He moved to Osceola 8 years ago.

He was a devoted husband and father and a friend and neighbor who was ready and willing to lend a helping hand and a kind word at all times. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving relatives are his wife, Mae; a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Wambold of Osceola; eight sons, Orville of Galesburg, Ill,; Fred of Osceola; Clie of Galesburg, Ill.; Pearl of Galesburg, Ill.; John of Lorimor; Robert of New Virginia; Garold of Osceola, and Harold of Galesburg, Ill.; 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, a sister, Ada Nelson of Des Moines; two brothers, William of Afton, and Dave of Truro; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, two infant sons, Ray and Roy, and two brothers, Charles and Fred.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, 1958, in Osceola Christian church with Rev. Azel L. Smith officiating. Burial was in the Union cemetery of Clarke county and arrangements were in charge of the Webster Funeral Home.
