Died, at the residence of James B. Osgood, October 23, 1889, John J. Harsh, aged eighty-eight years and five months. Mr. Harsh was born in Preston county, Virginia, May 11, 1801, where he lived with his father till he attained the age of twenty-two, when he was married to Miss Sarah Wotring.

With his young wife he moved to Harbor county, West Virginia, where they lived till 1857, removing then to Warren County, Iowa, settling near New Virginia. In 1866 they moved with their family to Clarke county.

In 1876, their family being all grown and married, Mr. and Mrs. Harsh broke up housekeeping and went to live with their son-in-law, Mr. James B. Qsgood, where their home has been since that time. Mrs. Harsh survives to mourn the loss of her husband.
