Vena Saddoris was born on August 23, 1897 on a farm in Fremont Township, Clarke County, Iowa. She died at her home, on June 24, 1987 in Davenport, Iowa.

Vena was the daughter of Enoch R. and Diann M. Rushing Saddoris. She attended schools in Clarke County, Iowa. She married Harold William Cook on Nov. 10, 1915 in Osceola. Two children were born to this union Ernest and Margaret. She married John Beresford on Dec. 3, 1939 in Kahoka, Missouri. She worked for many years at Penny's clothing store in Davenport.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, June 27, 1987, 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Davenport, Iowa. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, Scott County, Iowa.
