Madge Strubhar of Murray, daughter of Homer Clifton and Edna Iona Burchett, was born February 8, 1920, in Decatur and died Aug. 22, 1998, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was 78.

Mrs. Strubhar attended school in Hopeville, Murray, and Decatur County.

She married Olin Edward Strubhar on Sept. 19, 1935. The couple became the parents of two children, Larry and Mary. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Sarah, and a nephew, Roger.

Mrs. Strubhar is survived by her husband, Olin Strubhar of Murray; a son, Larry Strubhar and his wife, JoAnn Strubhar of Marion; a daughter, Mary Smith and her husband Brad Smith of Blanchard, Okla.; two grandchildren, Linda Klein and her husband Steve Klein of Marion and Matt Smith and his wife, Carie Smith of Houston, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Brandina Klein of Marion and Kylie Smith of Houston; a brother, Gale Burchett and his wife Lil Burchett of Murray; a sister Agnes Gaumer and her husband Loren Gaumer of Murray; two nephews, Ronnie Gaumer of California and Randy Gaumer of Indiana; a niece, Judy Gaumer of Des Moines and many other relatives and friends.

Services were held on Aug. 24 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with Pastor Brian McCracken of Murray officiating. Organist Myrna Dick played Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art. Casket bearers were Ray Webb, Gene Burgus, Randy Dunfee, Darrell Siefkas, Nelson Fry, and Denny Jeter. Honorary bearers were Kenny Dunbar, Junior Burgus, Curt Burgus, and Everett Bierce
