Minnie Belle Harrison was born February 27, 1869, and departed this life April 23, 1920, aged 51 years, 1 month, and 25 days. She spent her entire life in Liberty township, Clarke county, Iowa, with the exception of about fifteen months, when she with her family resided at Indianola, Ia. She was united in marriage to James A. Marquis February 10, 1891. To this union was born three children, Mrs. Lila Rankin of Indianola, Ia., and James Ivan, and Estella Marguerite who are both at home with their father. She was converted about twenty-seven years ago and united with the Christian Union Church at Bethel Chapel near her home, where she has ever been a faithful and consistent Christian giving her influence and service in the interest of the church and community. Her health has been poor for the past two years, but her last serious illness was of about three weeks duration. She was patient and resigned and conscious of her approaching end. She called for her Bible and kept it near her as her rule had been to read a chapter every day, during her illness, she was much in communion with and praise to her Savior. She leaves beside her devoted husband, three children, a son-in-law, and one little granddaughter, Jesse Marie Rankin, four sisters and one brother having preceded her, and a host of other near relatives and friends are left to mourn her departure. Funeral services were conducted at Bethel Chapel on Sunday, April 25th, at 11 a. m. by Rev. C. W. Swart a former pastor to which a large audience of sympathizing relatives and friends attended, burial was in Bethel cemetery. To this family is extended the sympathy of this community.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Jess Rankin and babe, C. C. Marquis, and daughter Nellie and son Emery and Mr. Rankin's sister all of Indianola, Blanch Barker of New Virginia, and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Harrison of Chariton.
