Harvey E. Stevens, son of William and Martha Stevens, was born near Middleport, Meigs county, Ohio, March 15, 1861, and passed away in his home in Bozeman, Montanna, December 15, 1931, aged 70 years and 9 months. While a small boy his parents moved to Iowa and lived for many years on a farm east of Weldon. In 1880 he was married to Vandilla Key and to them were born five children: C. B. W. N. and Charlotte of California, Martha of New Jersey and Arden who lives on the farm near Weldon. The wife of his youth passed away March 15, 1926, while visiting the children in California. On August 10, 1927, he was married to Mrs. Rose McVay of Bozeman, Montanna, who survives him.
In his youth, he was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church and transferred his membership to Bozeman when he moved to that place to live. He was a man that always lived faithful to his convictions; a kind father and a faithful husband.
His body, accompanied by his wife and step-daughter, arrived from Bozeman Friday and the funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Weldon, after which he was laid to rest in the family lot in the Hebron cemetery. Rev. Stanley Jensen officiating.
