Samuel Pearl Crooks was born in Gresham county, Kansas, May 23, 1880, died at the home of his mother in Greenbay township, Clarke county, Iowa, Feb. 9, 1907, aged 26 years, 8 months, and 17 days. While yet a boy, deceased with his parents moved to Indian Territory where they lived for a number of years. They moved to Clarke county, Iowa, about eight years ago where he has since resided. For five years he has been afflicted with that dread disease, consumption. He went west about a year ago hoping to be benefitted by a change of climate, but all to no purpose. He leaves to mourn a mother and an only sister, four brothers and two sisters having preceded him to the great beyond.
Funeral services were held at his late home Sunday p. m., Feb. 10, 1907, conducted to C. J. Nutt. Interment in Hebron cemetery.
