Obituary

Reuben Owen Burdess, son of William Bruce Burdess and Lilly Mae (Jones) Burdess was born January 29, 1943 in Osceola, Iowa, and passed from this life Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa at 76 years of age.

Reuben grew up in Osceola and graduated from Osceola, High School. He was united in marriage to Judy A. Mundell on February 14, 1965 at the First Christian Church in Knoxville, Iowa and they were blessed with two daughters, Tammy and Wendy. They lived in the Indianola, Iowa area. Reuben was baptized on February 8, 1976 at the First Christian Church in Knoxville, Iowa.

Reuben's first job out of high school was at Firestone Retread. He then began driving a truck for AMCO, he drove for several other trucking companies before he retired.

Reuben was united in marriage to Donna Jean Snell on December 14, 1991 at Des Moines, Iowa. They lived in Des Moines before moving to Osceola in 2005. Donna passed away in 2012 and Reuben lived in Osceola before moving to Allerton a few years ago.

Reuben enjoyed John Wayne movies, he was always tinkering with something. He loved his dogs, Lucy and Ethel.

Those relatives who preceded Reuben in death were his parents, Bruce and Lilly Mae Burdess; wife, Donna Jean Burdess; daughter, Tammy Burdess; two sisters, Jettie Mae and Barbarie; grandchildren, Tory Burdess and Nathan Burdess.

Reuben leaves to cherish his memory; daughter, Wendy (Jeff) Willey of Allerton, IA; lady friend, Peggy Sharp; grandchildren, Hillary (Matt) Vrieze, of Earlham, IA, Scott Stewart of Arizona, Thomas Stewart of Allerton, IA, Max Marshman of Patterson, IA, Andy Molly Burdess of Gladbrook, IA; great grandchildren, Ben, Gabe, Anna, Brooklyn and Jaden, step-sons, John Zambito and Mark Zambito; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
