After the war she came with her mother to Osceola, where she has since made her home. April 10, 1916, she was united in marriage to Frank Holder who departed this life Feb. 21, 1918. Mrs. Holder became a member of the St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Osceola, when a young girl and has always been a faithful worker, ever ready to do all she could for her children, neighbors and friends. Tender and patient at all times she will be missed from the community in which she has lived so long. Her death marks the passing of another early settler of Osceola. She leaves to mourn their loss one son and family of Osceola, one brother Andrew Pearson, of Greenfield, four grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Dearest Mother, thou hast left us; Near thou loss we deeply feel, But tis God that hath bereaft [sic] us, He can all our sorrows heal. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. William Berry from the A.M.E. church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery.” (Note the card of thanks was signed “Pearl Harris and Family, Andrew Pearson and Family” – Osceola Sentinel, Osceola, Iowa, 26 February 1931, pg. 7)
