Vinton Miler Dead.

The Webster ambulance was summoned to Clarinda yesterday by a message announcing the death of Vinton Miler.

Mr. Miler was taken to the state hospital for treatment on Wednesday of the past week.

James Vinton Miler.

James Vinton Miler, son of James and Mary Miler, was born in Scioto county, Ohio, July 7, 1854, and died September 19, 1928. He came to Clarke county, Iowa, August 1, 1855, being a resident of this county for 73 years. He was married to Mrs. Ruie McBroom on December 14, 1905. To this union three daughters were born, one dying in infancy and Edith died October 4, 1919, and Mrs. Harley Lowe living in Woodburn, Iowa. He had three stepsons, W. H. McBroom of Kansas City, Mo., Frank of Clarke county, and Russel of Libertyville, Illinois.

He was a kind and loving husband and father, always loving and caring for these step-sons as though they were his own. He confessed in Christ in early life and was always true to his convictions. He has been a life-long sufferer, having rheumatism since a boy of 14. He was a hard working man in boyhood days but has been unable to work for many years. He was a jolly person and made every one happy about him. His affliction of body and mind to his old age is a great sorrow to his loved ones. He is survived by his wife and four children, two brothers and three sisters, namely, Mrs. Emeline Hart and Mrs. Armilda Thompson of Clarke county, Mrs. Elizabeth Goin of St. Angeles, Washington, Oliver of Creston, and Frank of Talmage, besides a host of friends.

The funeral services were conducted Friday at 2:30 at the Jamison church by Rev. I. S. Caldwell. The interment was made at Jamison cemetery.

Note: The headstone is inscribed with Venton and the obituary states Vinton. Also, the headstone is inscribed with the year of birth as 1853 and the obituary states the year of birth as 1854.
