Dies Feb. 3

John William Marquis, 86, died at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines on Sunday, February 3 Services will be held Wednesday, February 6, from the Webster Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. Jerry Wolcott of Monroe, Iowa, officiating at the 2 p.m. rites. Interment will be in the Bethel Chapel Cemetery in Clarke County.

John William Marquis was born February 24, 1893 in Clarke County, son of Samuel Douglas Marquis and Sarah Jane Manley Marquis. He attended schools in Clarke County and on February 18, 1915,was married to Ora Penick in Clarke County. Two children were born to this union.

He was a farmer for many years in the Bethel Chapel community. He was a member of the Bethel Chapel Christian Union Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs Cleta Robins of Chariton, grandson, Steve Robins and wife, Pam of Des Moines, two great grandsons, and one sister, Olive Henry of Indianola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ora in 1951, son, Bernard William, one brother and three sisters.
