On last Monday Mr. John Weber fell dead when about to enter a dwelling house at Thayer. The circumstances attending this sad event as we have learned them from Mr. Henry Weber, father of the deceased, are as follows:

John was, and has been for some time living with his brother-in-law, Mr. Chas. Holt, on the old Weber farm some two or three miles northeast of Thayer, and some four miles west of Murray. On Monday during the forepart of the day he was hauling hay and doing work about the place as usual, and in the afternoon went to Thayer on business, a part of which was to take a young lady back with him to work for his sister, Mrs. Holt, who was sick.

During the stay in Thayer he went into a store, and while there remarked that he could hardly breathe and guessed he caught cold, but nothing serious was thought of it by those present and he soon went out and went to the house where he was to get the young lady (whose name we have forgotten) and rapped at the door, and just as the door was being opend to him he fell to the ground and was not known to breath afterwards.

Physicians were immediately called but he was beyond the reach of human help, though the body retained the warmth of life for some time and the friends were loath to believe that life was extinct until it began to grow cold and rigid.

Deceased was a single man, nearly thirty-three years of age, large and strong, and has borne the appearance of perfect health. The cause of his death is not known, but it is supposed to be heart disease. John was a quiet man, well known and well liked by the entire vicinity here as well as in the more immediate vicinity in which he lived. It is a very heavy blow to his aged father, who has for many years survived the mother, and a deep sorrow to the other members of the family, all of which will have the sympathy of the entire community.

The funeral services, we understand, were to take place at Thayer yesterday, to be conducted by a Catholic Priest from Creston.
