Hiram Pearson was born in Ontario, Canada, October 12, 1828, and departed this life May 8, 1910, aged 81 years, 6 months and 26 days, after an illness extending over a period of many months.

He was married in Ontario to Miss Martha Ashton and to this union four daughters were born, two of whom are dead: Elizabeth at the age of seventeen years and Mrs. Almeda Folger. Sara Pearson and Mrs. Martha Cannon, three grand-children and three great-grandchildren remain to mourn their loss. The wife and mother preceded the father fifteen years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Pearson moved to Warren county, Illinois, in December, 1869, and lived there nine years then they came to Clarke county, Iowa, settling on a farm six miles north of Osceola.

Failing health caused him to leave the farm sixteen years ago when he came to Osceola tomato his home.

Mr. Pearson was born of Quaker parentage. When a young man he united with the M. E. church and latter with the Church of God, being baptized in the Cedar river. He remained steadfast faith in Jesus Christ to the end. He was systematic in his study of the Bible, strong in defense of temperance and ever cast his vote for righteousness. Honesty, uprightness, kindness to all and cheerfulness in disposition were leading traits of this lovable character.

Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday, May 10th at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Roberts of the Christian church, assisted by Rev. Sayre of the Baptist church, an old friend of the family.

Interment in the family lot in Fremont cemetery.
