Aged Woman a Suicide at the County Farm
Charlotte McMurtry, 66 Inmate, Ends life by hanging.

Charlotte McMurtry, 66 year old inmate of the county farm, committed suicide by hanging last Thursday afternoon. No inquest was necessary since it was a plain case of suicide. Mrs. McMurtry had been in ill health for some time and during the past few weeks was acting in an ususual manner. She was admitted to the home about a year ago and after coming there had fallen down stairs and fractured her hip. She had to walk on crutches. Mrs. McMurtry had gone to an out building, tied a short length of rope at both ends to a rafter placed her head in the loop thus formed an swung in to space. Her feet about two feet from the floor.

Note: Charlotte Kane/Jordon married Lucian McMurtry. She committed suicide in Nov 1924 near Oceola, Iowa.
