“William Everett White”

“William Everett White, son of William and Martha A. White was born May 2, 1870, at their farm home which was located one half mile east of the Friends church, and departed this life January 28, 1934, at the Fifth Avenue Hospital, New York City, being at the time of his death 63 years, 8 months, and 26 days of age.

His boyhood days were spent in this community. At about the age of 17 years, he went to Kansas where he lived with an uncle for a few years, helping him in his carpenter’s trade.

While yet a young man, he became associated as a traveling salesman with the Knox Company of New York City, and for a number of years he was president of the salesmen’s association of the company. In the interest of his work, he did extensive traveling which took him from coast to coast in America, to London, England, Scotland, Australia, and also to South America.

Some years ago he established a business of his own as importer and retailer of exclusive men’s furnishings.

His death was the result of complications from which he had been suffering for a number of years.

There remain to mourn his departure, one sister, Mrs. Austin Wallace of this community, one half-sister, Mrs. Eva Brower of Rochester, Minn., four nieces and two nephews.

The body was brought to Clarke county and funeral services were held at the Friends church Saturday, February 3, conducted by Rev. A. N. Reynolds. Interment was made in the Friends cemetery.”
