“William Hall, an aged citizen of Weldon for many years, died Friday, Jan. 9, at a nursing home in Osceola, where he had been cared for during the past year. The funeral was held in the Methodist church here, Monday afternoon, Rev. Garret officiated. Singers were Mrs. Harold Pearcy and Mrs. Lawrence Meacham, Mrs. Diana Wade, accompanist. Interment in the Green Bay cemetery.”

“Funeral services for George W. Hall who died January 9, were held from the Methodist church in Weldon Monday, January 12 at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Garrett officiated and burial was in Green Bay cemetery.

George William Hall, son of Priscilla Westfall Hall, and Ashton Hall was born Dec. 3, 1859 in the state of Missouri and passed away January 9, 1959 at the Neff Nursing home in Osceola where he had received excellent care for the past fifteen months. He was at the time of his death 93 years, 1 month and 6 days of age.

His father passed away during the Civil War at Fort Donaldon, Tenn., where he was then stationed. His mother later married J. M. Wallace and the family moved from Knox county, Illinois to Clarke county, Iowa settling on a farm near Weldon.

After attending district school at Hebron he graduated from Garden Grove high school.
He then took up the profession of school teaching and for many years was a very successful teacher.

On April 11, 1896 he was united in marriage to Hannah Flora Keeran. After their marriage they immediately started housekeeping and his entire married life was spent on their little farm adjoining Weldon.

He leaves to mourn his passing two brothers, Fred E. and John E. Wallace of Weldon, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

His wife Flora, two sisters, Ella Hall Jamison and Jennie Wallace Wade, and two brothers, Frank C. and Edgar H. Wallace preceded him in death.

He was a lover of children and music, a loyal friend and neighbor.”
