“Former Osceola Woman Died At Home Of Daughter In Weldon Sunday After Long Illness”

“Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church in Weldon Tuesday, Dec 23 at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Sarah Landis, formerly of Osceola, who died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Wallace in Weldon.

Rev. Meyers of Weldon officiated, assisted by Rev. Smith. Music was furnished by Edna Meachem, Helen Price, Ina Pearcy and Ramona Heilman, accompanied by Mrs. Alta Kimberlin.

Pallbearers were Chas. Hall, Bert Keeler, Herb Scott, Chan. Richards, Ernie Marshall and Harve Kimberlin. Services were under the direction of the Lamoree Funeral Home. Burial was in the Green Bay cemetery near Weldon.”

“Sarah M. Landis”

“Sarah M. Keeran, daughter of Thomas and Margaret Keeran was born in Clarke county, Iowa, May 1, 1856 and passed away at a hospital in Osceola, Ia. Dec. 21, 1941 at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 20 days.

She was the seventh child in a family of twelve children. Five brothers and three sisters having preceded her in death.

On March 1, 1881 she was united in marriage to Robert M. Landis and to this union three children were born, H. E. Landis and Mrs. Fred Wallace of Weldon, Ia. and Mrs. Stanley Brooks of Spokane, Washington.

During her early married life she and her husband lived for a number of years on a farm near Weldon, later moving to Osceola, where they resided until his death in March, 1930. In 1932 she moved to Weldon.

For the past six years she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Fred Wallace. During the ministry of Reb. W. C. Cole in Osceola, she united with the Christian church, of which she was a member at the time of her death.

She leaves to mourn her departure her children, two brothers, James A. of Leon, and T. N. Keeran of Weldon, and one sister , Mrs. Mary Hidy of Weldon, also two grandsons, Robert Marvin Wallace and Kenneth V. Brooks, and one great granddaughter, Patricia Yyonne Brooks of Corvallis, Oregon, besides a host of relatives and friends.

She was a woman of splendid character, a true mother and loyal friend.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Weldon, Dec. 23 conducted by Rev. John Myers, assisted by Rev. Smith of the Methodist church.

Interment in the Green Bay cemetery.”
