“Robert M. Landis, well known Osceola citizen, died suddenly Monday evening at his home following a stroke of paralysis. He was apparently in good health, was on the streets but a short time before death. It is said he found it necessary to call a physician only twice in his lifetime. Sometime Monday he was taken ill. He thought it was indigestion. It culminated in a stroke.

The deceased was born at Liberty, Pa., and came to Iowa when he was 24 years old, and was 76 years, 2 months and 13 days old at the time of his passing. He settled on a farm near Weldon. March 1, 1881, he was united in marriage with Sarah Keeran. For a number of years the couple lived on the farm and moved to Osceola about seventeen years ago. To this union three children were born, two daughters, Mrs. Fred Wallace, Mrs. Stanley Brooks of Weldon, and one son, Roy Landis, of Weldon.

He is survived by the bereaved wife and children, two brothers, J. E. of Des Moines, John of Springfiled, Ill.; two grandchildren, Robert Marvin Wallace and Kenneth Vincent Brooks of Weldon.

Funeral services were conducted from the Church of Christ in Osceola, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, and interment in Green Bay cemetery. Obituary will appear next week.”

“Robert M. Landis”

“Robert M. Landis, son of Daniel and Katherine B. Landis, was born at Liberty, Penn., February 12, 1854, and departed this life at his home in Osceola, Iowa, March 24, 1930, at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 12 days.

At the age of 17 he united with the Lutheran church at Liberty, Penn., of which he was a member at the time of his death. March 1, 1881, he was united in marriage with Sarah M. Keeran. To this union three children were born. He leaves to mourn his departure the loving wife, Sarah M. Landis the three children, H.E. Landis, Mrs. Stanley Brooks and Mrs. Fred Wallace, who reside near Weldon, Iowa. Three brothers survive, Perry E. of Des Moines, John B. of Springfield, Illinois, and Oscar D. of Coganhouse, Penn. Two grandsons also mourn the death of this esteemed citizen, Robert M. Wallace and Kenneth V. Brooks of Weldon.

The deceased was a splendid citizen, jolly, good natured and always spread sunshine and optimism among his friends. He came to Iowa when a young man and lived on a farm near Weldonfor many years, then moving to Osceola. Many friends and relatives will shed a tear of sorrow at his passing.

Funeral services were held from the Church of Christ in Osceola Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. F. Clare McCallom. Inerment in Green Bay cemetery.

Out of town relatives in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Hazelton of Liberty, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Little, Mrs. Will Long and son, Ivan, of Clarinda, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Keeran of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Landis, Mr. and Mrs. Hurshburger, Forrest Landis and sister, Miss Bertha of Des Moines, J. A. Keeran of Leon, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wallace and son, Marvin, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Brooks and son Kenneth, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Landis and Miss Florence Brothers of Weldon, and J. B. Landis of Springfield, Illinois.
