“Funeral services for James I. Wade, former Weldon rural mail carrier, were held from the Weldon Methodist church Sunday afternoon, February 9. He was 63 years old. Mr. Wade passed away at his home in Weldon Saturday after a long illness.

Burial was at the Hebron cemetery. The Masonic service was in charge of Kenneth Mitchell with Rev. L. L. Smith officiating as pastor. The Lamoree Funeral Home directed the services.

Mr. James Isaac Wade, son of William S. and Harriett Wade, was born in Clarke County, Iowa, July 5, 1877, and passed away at his home in Weldon, Iowa, February 8, 1941, at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 3 days.

He was the second of five children. His father, mother and one brother, Pearl, preceded him in death.

He grew to manhood on his father’s farm and spent his entire life in and around Weldon, Iowa.

On April 15, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Jennie M. Wallace, who passed away in 1919. On 20 June 1922, he was united in marriage to Miss Diana Metier.

To this union was born two daughters, Harriett Frances and Mary Catherine.

He was a member of the Methodist church for many years and continued a faithful member until the time of his death. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge at Weldon.

He commenced to carry mail in 1906, and was a rural carrier until sickness caused him to retire in August 1940.

He was a member of the Rural Carrier Association since it was first organized and had held several offices in that organization. He was always working for the betterment of the service. He lived up to their motto, ‘Service With A Smile.’

He was a loving husband, a kind and generous father, and a true friend to all who knew him.
He was a man that was always ready to do what he could to help in any good cause and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two daughters, Harriett Frances and Mary Catherine, both at home, one sister, Mrs. Carrie Chaney, two brothers, Thomas C. and John W., all of Weldon, besides numerous relatives and a host of friends.”
