“Edith James Services Held”

“Funeral services for Edith Mable James were held from the Webster-Kale Funeral Home in Osceola Friday, November 19. She died at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on Wednesday, November 17. The 2 p.m. services were conducted by the Rev. Kermit Williams with interment in the Maple Hill Cemetery.

Edith Mable James was born in Clarke County on November 22, 1901, the daughter of William Pearl and Lucy Johnson Adams. She was a lifetime resident of Clarke County and was educated in the Clarke County schools She was also affiliated with the Friends Church and a member of the Legion Auxiliary and the LeRoy Garden Club. She was united in marriage to Frankie Wallace on December 12, 1925. Two children were born to this union.
She was remarried to Lloyd James on April 10, 1951.

Surviving relatives include: husband, Lloyd of Osceola; daughter, Arlene and husband, Emaline Lemieu of Warrick, Rhode Island; four step daughters, Virginia Garner and husband Lloyd of Osceola; Lois Fortune and husband, Wayne of Allerton; Joann Sullivan and husband Allen of Weldon; Donna McBroom and husband, Cloyd of Sparland, Illinois; three grandchildren; and mother-in-law, Ollie Mae James.

Also surviving are three brothers, Herman Adams of Shenandoah; Arthur Adams of Allerton; Dale Adams of Humeston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Frankie; son, Ellsworth and sister, Freda.”
