“Lois Wallace, 101, former Weldon resident died May 5, 1993, at the Leon Care Center in Leon where she was residing.

Services for Mrs. Wallace were Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Pastor Walt Williams officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery At Osceola.”

“Lois Moore” Wallace”

“Lois Moore Wallace, daughter of John W. and Lydia L. Green Moore, was born Sept. 6, 1891, near Leon and died May 5, 1993, at the Leon Care Center in Leon. She was 101.
She was one of eight children, two brothers, Orlo and Frank and five sisters, Edna, Myra, Eva, Vera and Edythe.

Mrs. Wallace was a rural teacher in Clarke and Decatur County schools for ten years.

She joined the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Van Wert in 1910, later transferring her membershiip to the Weldon Christian Church in 1920 where she was a faithful member. Mrs. Wallace was a Sunday School teacher until she left her home in 1984 to live in a nursing home.

She married Lloyd M. Wallace, a rural letter carrier, Nov. 4, 1920, and they established a home in Weldon where she resided alone after her husband’s death, July 10, 1953.

She was the mother of four children, Melba Roach, deceased in 1964, Mable Maurine who died in infancy, Robert A Wallace of Bella Vista, Ark. and Lois Nadine Mah of Fort Collins, Colo.

Mrs. Wallace is survived by two children, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral Home in Osceola, Pastor Walt Williams officiating. Organist, Jean Hurd accompanied soloist, Delons Sutton as she sang, The Old Rugged Cross and What a Friend We Have In Jesus.

Casket bearers were Kenny Wilder, Norman Owens, Robert Posckany, Larry Nish, Robert Wickham and Wayne Keeler. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Osceola.”
