Dorothea was born the daughter of John R. and Bertha Grace Stull Chamberlain on December 17, 1912 in Osceola. She was a 1931 graduate of Osceola High School.

In 1933, Dorothea moved to Des Moines and was employed as a domestic companion for the late Mollie Goldman, whom had shared her home for nearly 40 years. She was a member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church and West Des Moines Women's Club. Dorothea will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was a part of Mrs. Goldman's family for the rest of her life.
